简介
Another RoadSide Attraction has been playing their hearts out to audiences for the past five years, as an all-acoustic, variety show with instruments from around the planet. Their perspective on the world around them comes to surface in the tapestry of their original songs and in the tales they tell about them. They treasure the connection they have to every aspect of the show, from hand printed tour posters, match books, & CDs, to homemade percussion & mustache wax; a list that surely goes on and on, all made from the husband and wife team’s own hands. They are true believers in life as art, and continue to grow and learn new mediums along the way. They fancy themselves to be keen observers, taking inspiration from music and the world around them. They celebrate these influences, from the builders of the strange parks that line the old highway systems, to the wonders of nature, the authors of books and the great showmen. Their charge is connecting the past with the future, knowing in their bones that they are one and the same. Often described as old souls, they proceed on their journey collecting, learning, and growing, rejoicing in the life and all it has to offer. Their show is an experience, a sight to behold. It is a multi-media exploration, ingenuous and complex, full of multi-tasking and instrument swapping. Lucy often plays the straight man as Jordan spins yarns. Harmonizing and generally egging each other on, they connect with the audience and spark the imagination. It is an intimate, all inclusive show of endearment, delighting in diversity, hoping for your company, and coming to a town near you! The World’s Largest Bug Zapper was recorded on reel to reel tape in the studio of John Thompson in Roanoke, VA. It was mastered at Flat Five Press & Recording Co. by Tom Ohmsen in Salem, VA. The players on this album are Jordan Peery and Lucy Coronado on guitarron, ukuleles, guitar, and kazoo, with longtime drummer Charlie Gibson and Jordan’s cousin Thomas Layman on the homemade percussion kit. The songs all come from the imaginations of Jordan and Lucy. The album title is a reference to the world's largest, freestanding, illuminated, man-made star built in 1949 by Roy C. Kinsey. It sits 1,045 feet above the city of Roanoke, visible for 60 miles in the air with its 2000 ft. of neon tubes, standing at 88.5 ft. tall. It shines like a beacon on top of Mill Mountain, welcoming in the tide of traffic from highway 81. It hums till midnight in a swirling cloud of moths and bats. It is not really a bug zapper but perhaps one day someone will make a bigger neon star and with a slight retrofit to stay relevant, it could become one. It is a sight to see.
