Olite Castle was a merchant ship , originally launched under the name of Zaandijk in Rotterdam , which was sunk by a battery of coastal defense of Cartagena in the last days of the Spanish Civil War. Of the 2112 men who were on board , 1476 died , 342 were wounded and 294 were taken prisoner in Fuente Alamo , 4 being the highest death toll in the collapse of a single ship in the history of Spain .
