In 2010, I was chilling in a dorm room with one of my students, conversing about how often, when someone is hurt by someone else, that injured person closes down and builds walls of protection; by doing so, they cease to receive any type of love. We continued to talk about how forgiveness and the choice to move on can help open doors so love can be received again. Later that week, I was rehearsing for a local concert, and as I sat at the piano, I penned "Let Love In." And yes, the song made me play it at the show the very next night. After hearing this and other songs at one of my shows in Fairbanks, Alaska, playwright Anne Hanley wrote: "I can still hear (and feel) those beautiful words washing over me. Song after beautiful song probing stinging subjects with the softest touch of understanding. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Hopeful."
