Label Presents: Harbou Bryan Mattson, who goes by the stage name of Harbou, has Detroit's techno scene pulsing through his veins; beating a rhythm of Deep House amalgamated with Minimal. This newcomer's unique mixes and style have quickly been noticed and praised by the established echelons of the community and gained Harbou entrance to their ranks at a dizzying pace. Faster than the flash of a strobe on the dancefloor, the fans of Techno/House have a new frontman bringing another untamed edge to the wilds of the scene. Harbou's love of music dawns back to his earliest recollections of childhood and evolved into a passion before he could even write. By the time middle school was added to his life's resume, he had already taken up the guitar and made attempts of varying success to form garage bands with classmates. Frustrated with the apathy and precociousness of his teenaged band mates in high school, Bryan found himself looking to solo endeavors to continue his desire to create music. The proverbial light bulb lit above his head during the 2009 Detroit Electronic Music Festival and he focused his attention anew on his love for the audio arts. A short time later, an all vinyl set of Acid House by the renowned Woody McBride forced Harbou to accept his fate as a musician and buy his first set of turntables. Already deep in the Techno/House scene, Bryan was able to learn from Detroit's best and quickly gained the skills needed to spin wax. Soon he was the MC at small parties, then larger ones, and then being asked to open for greats such as Safeword (Clint Stewart) at venues like the famous Works in the Corktown District of Detroit. Empowered by the receptiveness of the audiences who cheered him on, he consumed every morsel of information he could on his art and quickly came to learn the production end of the industry. From this point on, things spiraled into the clouds at 120 bpm. Harbou has gone on to spin in major Techno/House venues from the Grasshopper Underground to the Roche Bar and every club in between: opening for famous DJs to being the headliner himself, and entertaining the energetic crowds every time. In the midst of his growing fame and demand, Bryan has found time to DJ segments of the incredibly popular Sanctum.fm radio show and promote shows in the Metro Detroit region. As a founding member of Massive Detroit Records, Bryan has started the new generation of Motown's new Renaissance. Now with Label Records, Harbou is expanding his talents and is expected to slam the conventions of Techno/House down and redefine them with his own style likely, creating a whole, new set of fans for the scene.
