The Sass' music is a mix of mid-90s style rock updated with a modern alternative indie-punk edge. Their debut album "Bleach Blonde" hops from thick, heavy rock songs to slow, ambient, yet catchy, alternative tunes, but it all fits well together as one cohesive experience of an album. The album was recorded at Workbook Studio (one of the best in Columbus) and was mastered by Alan Douches, who has worked with everyone from Brand New to Ben Folds Five to Thrice to Fatboy Slim. "Bleach Blonde" was released on July 26th, 2005 on Connecticut-based label Right Eye Records. The band has toured down South and around the mid-west a few times and is looking forward to building a stronger national fan-base with their full West and East Coast tours in July and August. The band has been in existence for over three years, formerly known as Flying Sasquatch, and even won the Columbus Dispatch's (the main newspaper) Battle of the Bands competition in 2003. By now, The Sass is one of the bands in the Columbus scene with the longest longevity, evidenced by appearances at just about every venue, including the (large ones) Newport and PromoWest Pavilion, with all kinds of bands in different genres.
