Can there be cohesion between entertainment and enlightenment? Can rap music be used to build people up spiritually and shift the focus away from outward appearances? Most importantly, can God be magnified through this type of music? These are all questions that weighed on the mind of J. Kirk. Eventually he was given an answer... A resounding YES! Jason Kirk's life was planted in the small, unrecognized city of Youngstown, Ohio, in an area where crime and poverty abounded. Kirk was raised with trouble surrounding him, yet God had placed Jason in fertile soil. J.Kirk and his family were deeply rooted in Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church where God nurtured the character of the person behind the microphone. All great plants need to be watered by rainy days and Jason was no exception. At the age of 15 J.Kirk's father passed away leaving him to struggle with the concept of manhood and possibilities in ministry. Though his Earthly Father had gone, his Heavenly Father continued tilling the soil to bring to the surface what Jason had in him all the while. After joining the Navy Jason discovered his gift of lyricism. Initially, the gift was used to glorify Jason, yet as he progressed, his internal vitality began to whither. So at the age of 24 he finally surrendered; opening himself up completely to the light of God and he has been blooming ever since. In 2013 J.Kirk stepped out on faith and released his debut album "UNTiTLED" independently. All of those who have experienced this "dynamic music" can attest to the fact that God has placed a powerful ministry within J.Kirk. Catchy melodies, top-notch lyrics, metaphors, and punchlines draw the listener's ear, but it is the ministry that changes their hearts. J. Kirk is currently working on his second album. He is also sharing his gifts by collaborating with other anointed artists. He was also selected to write the cover song for Beloda Magazine; evidence that his versatility and artistry continue to make a way for him. J.Kirk is still growing as he endeavors to stay connected to his vine (God) while simultaneously branching out to reach the people that he is so passionate about. A man is judged by the music he produces and a minister by his fruit. For sure, J. Kirk's might is from God who allows him to do both masterfully.
