简介
I like melodies. I like a catchy tune that I can sing to myself as I walk down the street. Now don’t get me wrong, a nice rhythm section laying down a solid groove can’t be beat. But there is something magical about the melodies that make up the heart of American popular music from the beginning to the middle part of the twentieth century. The composers of that era skillfully crafted memorable, easy to sing, play and hum musical masterpieces. These melodic lines paired effortlessly with lyrics to create pleasing songs that have lasted through the years. The ukulele and Hawaiian steel guitar are two instruments that are perfect for musicians who love to play melodies. The ukulele’s delicate voice is very much like a music box, while at the same time extremely rhythmic. The steel guitar has an almost horn-like vocal quality to its tone. The two instruments compliment each other beautifully and musical history has proven the strength of this marriage. Here is a collection of melodies from the great American songbook performed on the ukulele and steel guitar. I enjoyed arranging, performing and recording these wonderful pieces. I play all the instruments heard on this disc. Feel free to sing, whistle or hum along.
