简介
Written in 2011, the eight pieces of "Sideways Glances" can be performed individually or as a group. The trombone may be accompanied by either the composer's synthesized tracks or performed by a pianist. Either way, the spirit is light-hearted and rambunctious. The titles and moods refer to eight young ladies that the composer had a crush on between the ages of five and ten! New England native Daniel Cloutier received the B.M. from Northwestern University, M.M. from Carnegie Mellon University, and D.M.A. from West Virginia University. A Schilke Performing Artist, he is Principal Trombone of the Grant Park Orchestra. He has held positions with the Minnesota Orchestra and Minnesota Opera, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Oregon Symphony, Illinois Philharmonic, and the orchestras of Pittsburgh, New Orleans, Norwalk, Bridgeport, Skokie, Evanston, Northbrook, Elgin, Lake Forest, South Bend, and Knoxville. Working with an array of conductors from Neeme Jaarvi, Edo DeWaart, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Simon Rattle, Leonard Slatkin, and Maxim Shostakovich to Erich Kunzel and Marvin Hamlisch, he has performed in Carnegie Hall, Symphony Hall Boston, Royal Albert London, Berlin Philharmonic Hall, and Suntory Hall Tokyo. He has recorded with the Minnesota, Saint Paul Chamber, and Grant Park Orchestras. He premiered "Sideways Glances" by Kenneth Jacobs in 2012. Kenneth A. Jacobs (D.M.A. University of Texas at Austin) is a composer and artist. He has been awarded The American Prize, International New Music Composers Prize, and awards from City College of New York, Brown University, Texas Music Educators Association, and the Tennessee Music Teachers Association.
