Known for creating some of the most complex time signatures on a keyboard, it is Charles’ unique ability to let his God given musical instincts guide him to create some of the most spine tingling melodies and memorable rhythms to soar through a board. His range is vast. His sound encompasses elements of Jazz, Reggae, Soul, Fusion, Rock, Classical, Funk and sometimes even elements of Hip Hop. Charles is able to adapt in any musical environment and capture an audience like Dracula’s gaze. Some of the most impactful times in his career stems from his inclusion in “Chairman of The Board”. While playing with this group, he toured the states and Europe. “One of my most memorable times on tour was when I played the Victoria Theater in Europe on the same line-up as ‘Paul McCartney and Wings’!” recalls Charles. Other dates included opening up for such musical masters as “The Time”, “Lynyrd Skynyrd”, “Cameo”, “Confunkshun”, “Sheila E.”, “Heat Wave” and many others. He also performed with the Songstress, Anita Baker. “Another remarkable point in my journey was when I took my group ‘Silver Shadow’ to the Virgin Islands. While playing with the group 'Five Special' Charles had the honor of opening up on the ‘Off The Wall ‘ tour with Michael Jackson & LTD! “ As they say, ‘Birds of a feather flock together’. Some of Charles’ closest “brothers” in business, such as Grammy Award winners “James Carter” and Humberto Nengue Hernandez and others including “Fernando Sanders” and “Jerome Ali” continue to grace stages, selling out crowds world wide. Not only do they continue to collaborate on various masterpieces, they each continue flourishing and encouraging one another as they each navigate through the murky waters of the music business. Charles composes, arranges and produces his own original music and is often sought out by other artists and producers to add his touch to their original works. His influences are vast as he names “John Coltrane”, “Chic Corea”, “Herbie Hancock”, “Keith Jarrett” and newcomer “Hiromi Uhara” as musicians who inspire him. On his style, he states that “fusion” and "alternative rock" more closely aligns with it due to the various musical styles it encompasses. “Music will always survive because it is a universal language and it’s been around since the beginning of time. When I finish a piece, it’s my baby… new, beautiful and fresh! I write about my feelings and thoughts, about beautiful places, relationships and the unexplained. I believe I write beautiful music and there’s a large group of people out here who have the same hunger I have for a particular style of music. I think for those people, I have it.” Charles is truly a cure for musical mediocrity. He’s an artist that will take you on a virtual symphonic voyage. One in which he controls from intoxicating sounds flowing out of 88 black and white keys. One listen to his sonic jewels will have you desiring more.
