Doo Rag专辑介绍：by Erik HageThe music of Bob Log and Thermos -- collectively known as Arizona's Doo Rag -- can certainly be construed as Delta blues, but that 's only a point of departure. Using blues as a base, Doo Rag jettisons off into their own realm of arcane, sometimes-frenzied slide guitar; muddied, echoey vocals (Log funnels his voice through a bullhorn-like contraption); and primitive, metallic percussion (Thermos often bangs on aluminum lids and buckets). Production-wise, this album is certainly a notch ahead of the group's debut, Chunked & Muddled. But that's a slippery slope, as there is still plenty of sonic murk and mud -- it's just that this time around it primarily comes from the group's instrumentation and style rather than primitive recording techniques. "Bam" lands musically somewhere between Captain Beefheart and Mississippi Fred McDowell, while "Freeloader" is akin in spirit to early Beck. Nevertheless, Doo Rag is a true iconoclast and Log's dizzying, warped slide guitar is worth the price of admission alone.
