The New Record: “You & I” Trawick’s versatility also translates into his recordings. His upcoming album “You & I” is a stripped down record that showcases the raw emotional strength of Trawick’s songwriting and live performance. Featuring ten songs performed in front of a small ten person audience, “You & I” was recorded live at Cue Studios in Falls Church, VA using a three microphone configuration known as a “Decca Tree”, as used by Decca Records in the 1950’s. The album was produced by Jim Ebert (Meredith Brooks, Butch Walker, Cowboy Mouth) who also produced Trawick’s previous EP “After All Is Said and Done” and features Trawick on acoustic guitar while being accompanied by Josh Himmelsbach on mandolin, piano, and backing vocals. In addition, DC rapper Flex Mathews makes a guest appearance freestyling on “Brick by Brick” and “Back of My Mind”, truly bringing out the hip hop side of Trawick’s “Urban Folk Rock” style. As a whole, “You & I” bridges the gap between timeless americana, old school bluegrass, introspective love lost ballads, and funky hip hop wordplay a la G. Love and Jason Mraz. Along the way, he has shared the stage with artists such as Bob Schneider, The Avett Brothers, Blues Traveler, Pat Green, Cowboy Mouth, Jill Sobule, Shawn Mullins, Edwin McCain, Pat McGee, KC and the Sunshine Band, Brett Dennen, Sara Bareilles, Paula Cole, The Gourds, Jimmies Chicken Shack, Travis Tritt, Hanson, Julia Sweeney (the "It's Pat"woman from SNL), and even the Ying Yang Twins. Trawick’s love affair with music began when he found his father’s classical guitar under the steps of the family home in Leesburg, Virginia. While attending college at Longwood University, a cousin in Austin, Texas fanned the flames of this passion by sending him recordings of KGSR’s live in-studio performances for Christmas each year. One of the KGSR albums introduced him to the Bob Schneider song “Big Blue Sea”, which inspired Trawick to branch out into performing. After graduating college, Trawick started out balancing the demands of his burgeoning musical efforts with a 9 to 5 job, until the loss of that job provided the catalyst in turning his life-long passion into a full time career. A savvy businessman in addition to being a talented musician, Trawick works tirelessly to promote not only his work, but also the music of many other aspiring singer/songwriters. He is the creator and manager of ‘The 9’, a successful nine-person singer-songwriter series that regularly traveles up and down the East Coast .
