Established in 2003, The Simpkin Project is a high energy reggae band from Huntington Beach, California with its own unique version of Jamaica’s most culturally celebrated music, reggae. Whether in L.A. Orange County or San Diego, The Simpkin Project has been captivating audiences one by one with their thumping drum and bass lines, powerful guitars rhythms, thick keyboards, striking vocal harmonies and positive message. Their dedication and respect of reggae music is both scene and heard through their non-stop, enthusiastic live performances, songwriting style and studio recordings. The Simpkin Project’s set list features a large variety of original reggae music combined with an endless amount of classic roots cover material to honor reggae music’s most legendary artists, and to ensure that every audience member enjoys the show. Over these past years, The Simpkin Project has had the opportunity to perform at a number of Southern California live music venues including: The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano, The Blue Café in both Huntington and Long beach, The Galaxy Theater in Costa Mesa, Gallagher’s Pub in Huntington Beach, St. Rocke’s in Hermosa Beach, Winston’s in Ocean Beach San Diego, Mozambique in Laguna Beach, The 710 in Pacific Beach, The Malibu Inn in Malibu and even the University of California in San Diego. Moreover, they have been fortunate enough to share the stage with many of today’s legendary and contemporary reggae artists such as: Steel Pulse, The Abyssinians, U-Roy, Cornell Campbell, Midnite, Bambu Station, Don Carlos, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad, Rebelution, International Farmers and S.O.J.A. With the one full length studio album already under their belts, The Simpkin Project now pushes forward with their brand new album “In The Wake” scheduled for release June of this year. The mission statement of The Simpkin Project is simple; “Provide quality professional grade entertainment and to make certain that everyone involved, from staff to management, vendors and fans, has an electric and unforgettable experience while staying true to the positive messages and styles of roots, rock and reggae”. “We love reggae music period. It is what we were all raised on. Strictly roots, rock, reggae music.
