HEADFIRST is the 5 track [**6 tracks on physical] debut E.P. for Charlotte, NC-based Pröwess. This hard rocking album hearkens to the days of yore, yet manages to maintain a distinct modern edge. The physical album begins with the intro track "Thunder Underfoot" which paints the picture of a band of warriors marching in unison into some unknown battle. It sets the stage perfectly for "No Survivors," a frenetic rocker that has a classic feel. "Show Me" follows next, with its iconic opening guitar riff backed by a lurching beat and a characteristic sticky chorus. "Killing A Giant" has a fast paced, angsty vibe musically and relates with the listener lyrically with the message of inner struggle. "Shaker" is a straight-up old school rocker about the fairer sex and the power of the female form. "Overboard" rounds out the album as a tongue-in-cheek ode to the party life, complete with wailing guitars and a monster rhythm section; a perfect synopsis of the album as a whole.
