Hymns have always played a huge role in my life. One of my fondest childhood memories is of Sunday night hymn sings at church when people would call out the page number of the hymn they wanted to sing (I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but the pianist had to be one talented individual to be able to play any hymn at a moment’s notice…and I don’t ever remember any of them saying they didn’t know the selected hymn). We decided to do a recording of hymns because these stunningly beautiful expressions of faith and love have sort of taken a back seat in so many church services, and we want to encourage people to embrace the deep theology and passionate devotion of these enduring songs.
