Hailing from Orlando, FL is the up and coming pop band An Honest Year. The band was formed in the summer of 2012 with Matthew McKay (Vocals), Stephen Morrell (Guitar), Jonathan Pfingsten (Guitar), Jonathan Bogart (Bass), and Greg Pinney (Drums) as the full 5 piece group. The vital process of developing a unique sound that catered to each of the member’s style was a smooth process as each of them had grown up on similar bands. National acts such as blink-182, New Found Glory, and Yellowcard were evident influences in the style of An Honest Year. An important aspect of a band’s development is commodity in writing music together in person, which became a small roadblock as two of the members (Matthew McKay and Greg Pinney) resided in Pennsylvania as the rest of the band had lived in Central Florida. The members relied on internet devices such as Skype and Google hangouts to sever the distance among the members and write as if they were a full band. An Honest Year recorded their first 3 song self-titled demo in August of 2012. Matthew McKay and Greg Pinney intend to move down to Florida and continue to grow as a band and develop a larger fan base along with recording their first full length album in 2013.
