简介
Over the course of 2 years, Brennan Johnson set out with long time friend and engineering guru, Hayden Flack, to create what would become the "Like Father" EP. Countless late nights, early mornings, crushed Red Bull cans, and hallucinations later, the six-song powerhouse was birthed. The journey begins with Wildfire (the records' opening groove-punch-to-the-face)--an enigmatic, lyrical journey teetering the lines of reality, coupled with a stick-to-your-brain bass and guitar riff. “Howlin’ ‘neath a Winter Moon” is a cryptic throwback to Southern Soul (think “Long Black Veil” on a little moonshine). With “Vices”, you are given a gritty, bass-driven glimpse into the unquenchable desires that chain us up and lock us down (“Got a real rocket. Wanna go for a ride?). In a Bob Dylanesque portrait of love loss and clarity, “Going to Tennessee” is a soulful, yearning ballad with a stunning vocal melody and flares of bluegrass and old country. If “Like Father” is the mountain of sound, “Seven Moons” is the peak, and the view from the top of this symphonic, hypnotizing groove is unforgettable. Come down from the mountain and head “Down the Road”, the record’s sixth and final track. A stripped and beautifully crafted love song that paints a picture of hope for a future bound by the earliest stages of attraction, “Down the Road” is the perfect setting sun for a record that burns as bright as its new star.
