Born on November 11th, in the Dominican Republic in the town of Barahona, but at the age of 13, Edwin and his parents relocated to Bronx New York in pursuit of a better life. At an early age, Edwin expressed a passion for all genres of music but it was the Salsa music that would play a beautiful melody in his heart and soul and would lead him to aspire to be a singer. It wasn’t until the age of 18, however, that he began to take singing and music seriously. It was during this time that he frequently went to local Karaoke’s and performed in front of several small audiences. Edwin’s performances included singing as lead singer and background vocal singer for different local bands in New York, but little did he know that his hobby of performing in Karaoke’s and small audiences would lead him to discover his life’s passion and would allow him to be one step closer to his dream…. In 2006, Edwin was a finalist who competed on the reality show “Objetivo Fama” (Spanish version of American Idol) Season three. Recorded in Puerto Rico, Edwin was one of two finalists chosen to represent New York City. During this time, Edwin received professional vocal/singing training and had come into contact with various music experts and industry professionals. It was also during this time that he gained a wealth of experience performing in front of thousands of people. His performances on the show were held every Saturday for fifteen weeks at the iconic “Centro de Bellas Artes” center in Caguas Puerto Rico. The show was broadcasted on the Univision Network, Telefutura, and aired worldwide. Edwin made the semi-finals, becoming one of the fans favorites and would then become known by his fans as El Salsero de Objectivo Fama. With the help of the show Edwin built his team with with the talents of Ramon Orlando Valoy who served as Producer, Song Writer and arranger. Sonero Pichardo served as co-producer, vocal coach, and song writer. Willie Ruiz and Chino Nunez were arrangers on the project. And William Duvall also was a vocal coach. The production was recorded at “El Imperio Music Recording Studios”in NYC, and was mixed and Mastered by Guido Diaz of “Sky Light Recording Studios”. We proudly introduce to you…..Edwin Gomez!
