简介
TinGods sole musical offering, “Laughing Under Duress” is the mutant stepchild of engineer / producer / songwriter / vocalist Gordon Davies (wait…he can sing?) and songwriter / producer / guitarist Steve Messina (wait…he plays electric???). They have been the best of friends and musical partners in crime for the last 30 years, and for this project they were joined by a cast of friends who just happened to be some of the finest session musicians in NYC, and therefore anywhere. The music itself is difficult to describe; on the surface it’s rock, only more intricate…but not quite intricate enough as to truly be called Prog. Conventional song structure is sometimes eschewed. Strange tunings are often employed. It has energy and introspection, shadow and light in abundance. It has true dynamics. TinGods was conceived almost by accident; written in two different places at the same time, recorded in a big studio back when studios still used tape, and at home before everyone with a MacBook had a “home studio”. It was born sometime after prohibition ended but before Auto Tune and Melodyne made everyone sound like they could actually sing. It was conceived without the use of synths, loops, or samples. It is real music made by real people using real instruments. Due to a series of unforeseeable events, the mutant stepchild has been chained to a brick wall in a hidden room below the stairs for the last 15 years. Now it has been given its freedom by its wayward relatives; released into the age of the internet and the world of digital distribution, given a second chance at life. Will the stepchild be able to find its footing in the brave new world? Listen and decide for yourself.
