简介
Jamie is a singer-songwriter who has lived in the Adirondacks, near Tupper Lake, for over 18 years. Jamie writes about nature, people, and the interplay between people and nature. He’s written several entertaining songs about the Adirondack’s natural and cultural history, all containing memorable imagery and metaphors that reflect his passion for both. Jamie has also written numerous songs about the human condition and, along the way, has done his share to help “fill the world with silly love songs.” Many of his songs borrow their essence from folk, bluegrass, traditional and country music and are enjoyed by all ages. Others find a home in the modern folk and folk-rock genres and speak directly to the challenges and celebrations of his generation. As a result, Jamie’s songbook is fresh, interesting, and diverse, yet accessible, relevant and familiar. His performances are often spiced with a few covers from some of his favorite and most influential artists, like Neil Young, Van Morrison, James Taylor, Jimmy Buffett, David Bromberg, Bob Dylan, and The Grateful Dead. Jamie released his debut CD ‘Forever Green’ in January 2006, his second CD ‘Hey Music’ in September 2007, and his third Cd "Back to Nature" in December 2009. Jamie’s second CD, ‘Hey Music,’ is a fresh collection of contemporary folk songs. It was recorded and co-produced by Dan Duggan, who is one of several talented musicians featured on the CD. Mitch Barron, undoubtedly one of the best bass players in the northeast, adds his magic to several tracks, as do jazz-drummer Russ Myer and mandolin player Frank Orsini. Sue Grimm contributes some captivating flute playing (check out ‘Now I’ve Seen’ and ‘Apprehensive’), while Kellen Waickman’s cello playing encourages a pensive mood (check out “On My Own’ and ‘Talus’). The vocals are rich and powerful on this CD, tastefully embellished with the sweet and soulful harmonies of Peggy Lynn and Celia Evans (talented singer-songwriters who also specialize in Adirondack- and nature-based folk). The inspirations for the songs on Hey Music are many and varied, but they are the inspirations that are familiar and relevant to many of us. Jamie has crafted those inspirations and their associated emotions into songs that are timeless and enjoyable by all ages.
