At age 14, Shawn Decker of Synthetic Division met Depeche Mode (wearing a DM shirt no less) in 1990 as a final wish. A few years prior, he had been diagnosed with HIV, infected through tainted blood products as a child. 25 years later, and Shawn is still here and thriving as a musician, HIV educator and author (My Pet Virus).

He's celebrating his survival by releasing a cover album of his heroes, featuring one song from each Depeche Mode album spanning from 1981's Speak and Spell ("Just Can't Get Enough") to 1990's Violator ("Policy of Truth"), the tour on which Shawn met the band. Proceeds from the purchase of Shaking the Disease: An Unlikely Tribute to Depeche Mode support the MTV Staying Alive Foundation, on which Shawn serves as a Board member. The album is dedicated to those lost to HIV/AIDS and aims to prevent future infections by helping to fund educational efforts and outreach.
