简介
Singer-songwriter, Alex Marshall is currently awaiting the release of his much anticipated solo album and debut single “Hurricane.” The upcoming body of work which is self-produced and co- written by Marshall, is a passionate collection of journals depicting an autobiographical endeavor of love and loss. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Marshall was heavily influenced by music from an early age. He began playing the piano at the ripe age of five and eventually taught himself how to play guitar, always integrating his fundamental understanding of music with his ability to play by ear. Marshall’s father, an avid music collector, imbedded a wealth of knowledge of music while growing up, becoming one of the main influences for his love of music. He was surrounded mostly by funk and soul, 70’s rock and 80’s pop music, contributing to a wide array of musical taste. As a musician, he was constantly looking for ways to push past the basics and create sounds that defied expectations, leading to his love for songwriting and producing. Once he was able to string melodies together into effective song structures, songs became something tangible that he could mold with his hands. At 14-years-old Marshall joined his first band. By the time he was 16-years-old, he was playing local shows with pop-rock-indie band, The Cab, where he played piano, rhythm guitar and sang back-up vocals. Preceding his 18th birthday, The Cab was signed to their first music label, Fueled by Ramen, a subsidiary of Atlantic Records, and booked on their first U.S. tour. After six years of touring the world and creating two studio albums, The Cab and Marshall decided to part ways, allowing Marshall to focus on developing his own unique sound and to continue with other musical projects. He began writing and producing for other artists. Even while working with a number of up-and-coming artists, Marshall continued to create music for himself. The few songs that he had completed sparked attention within the Justin Timberlake Camp/Wright Entertainment Group. Marshall flew to Amsterdam to meet with the Timberlake Team and shared with them the music he had created. While there, he was given positive feedback and encouraged to compile more of his music into a full-length album. It was at that moment that he knew he had to see a solo album all the way through. Marshall describes his sound as dynamic drum beats, ample pop hooks and harmonies mixed with elements of funk and R&B. When not in the studio creating music Marshall enjoys a plethora of outdoor activities including hiking, camping and fishing. He has worked with non-profit origination Music Saves Lives which educates youth about the importance of blood donation and the bone marrow registry. Marshall’s other philanthropic passions include charities involving cancer awareness and creating programs that help youth with financing the music creation process. Marshall currently commutes between Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York City helping to keep his repertoire as diverse as possible.
