"Carsten Sindvald may be a name you've heard, lately as reed player in the band Taylor's Universe. Here he presents a solo project, officiating on various reed instruments but also on piano, as shown in the several short interludes separating the longer tracks. The music borrows to many styles, from soul jazz inflections and hard-bop brassy riffs to afro-jazz drumming or blues spiced soloing. Helped by Danish musicians and providing us with a rich instrumental palette (vibraphone, trumpet, EWI, guitars, bodhran and other percussion), he offers here a very accessible and melodic album, mixing acoustic and electric worlds with a sure taste, avoiding the unnecessary clichés often associated to the genre.
