简介

TRIGON is a German based fusion band and their history is carved by the numerous changes in line-up which contributed to TRIGON's creative potential as the band draws heavily on jamming as a source for their music, thus the input of each band member adds to the overall flavour of their music. TRIGON came alive in 1989, after its predecessors continually lost its lead singers. With Ralf Wochele on drums (later drummer of FOOL'S GARDEN) TRIGON's first studio CD "Nova" was recorded. When Ralf developed an increasingly pop-orientated style Thomas Zimmer (PURPLE HAZE) took on the job as stickman. In this line-up they appeared several times at the Karlsruhe's "Schauburg Jazzfest". When it became obvious that Thomas preferred to play cover music rather than develop original material he passed the sticks to Kirk Erickson (SNEAK PREVIEW). In this new line-up the band jammed for several years until Kirk moved back to the USA. Next on drums came Daniel Beckmann (REFLECTING HATE, ISHNI) who had been introduced to the band by Kirk and TRIGON recorded their second studio album "Beschränkte Haftung". Daniel brought a fresh creative impulse to the band and subsequently TRIGON released several live albums of jam sessions, did a tour in the Netherlands, and could experience the overwhelming feeling of playing larger festivals. At the beginning of 2003, it turned out that Daniel prefered harder and more defined structures in music, so consequently he founded a band called DOWNGRADE and left. In his place an old friend of the band, Tihomir Lozanovski (BREAKHOUSE), came on board. He revealed himself as the drummer TRIGON had always been dreaming off.The latest addition to the band is Munich based Udo Gerhards on keyboards (NEKROPOLIS 23). At the Burg Herzberg Festival 2004 he proved how well he is in complementing the band's rhythm. So far TRIGON's biggest success was their appearance at ajaProg-Festival 2005 in Mexicali (Baja California, México). Like many bands TRIGON never aimed to be 'prog'. Oblivious of being described this way they called their music 'heavy-zen-jazz' because it was mostly heavy music that defied some musical restrictions and constraints (hence the 'jazz'), and 'zen' comes from the band members striving to work as one creative force. TRIGON's last live album was recorded at the Herzberg 2004 festival. Before the show they met up with FOGG CAFE at TRIGON's rehearsal studio where FOGG CAFE's members could 'stretch their fingers' before driving to the festival. They encountered some common interests which resulted in Nick Lieto lending a hand with his flugelhorn on two songs. Since jamming is TRIGON's prime source of creativity, and because of the numerous changes in personel, 'Herzberg 2004' can be seen as their most representive effort with the current line up.
