简介
A sneak peek at the sophomore effort reveals that all their years of covering The Beatles have paid off. Although they claim to tread the same ground as the alt-rock Wilco, it is to John, Paul, George and Ringo (circa post-Rubber Soul, 1965) that their work truly reflects. The 11-track album is filled with radio-friendly, guitar-centric, pop-rock ditties rife with intriguing imagery that mask deeper meanings. One of the standouts, Changing Lanes, has an unexpected yet mesmerizing violin part played to the tee by the band's latest addition, Lyon Chadwick. Yet another one, Paint Dry Summer, is a perfect example of the dueling guitarwork of lead singer Warren Black and lead guitarist David Gilmore. What sticks, overall, is the seamless, intricate Beatlesqsue harmonies that bands like The Posies do ther darnedest to mimic and buffoons like Oasis' Gallagher Brothers destroy. -Smantha Santa Maria, The Clairon Ledger
