简介

This is a very important album and is still very relevent with the recent move from the City Council of Flagstaff, AZ voting on using reclaimed water on the sacred San Francisco Peaks to the vote on using potable water in 2010. The 22 tribes of Arizona have voiced their opposition but have yet to be heard on the grounds of sacredness and spirituality. Native Americans believe that the use of reclaim water on a sacred mountain would be descecration of their sacred site and equals defacement of a church. But economics, water scarcity in a high terrain desert, contaminated drinking water in communities just 25 miles away, health dangers to the those who would ski on the fake snow and to the animals and those on this fragile eco-system. The album was more then entertainment, it was a vehicle to educate about the destruction that is happening to the San Francisco Peaks and sacred sites around the world. In 2006 this album was nominated for several Native American Music Awards and is now available for digital downloads only at this time. The momentum and energy that was put into this album was amazing and those that gave of themselves have made this a much sought after release. The album features Casper Loma-Dawa, Bigg Trub, JayNez, RedCloud, Aztlan Underground, SupaMan, Ras K'Dee and Yaiva. For more info on this issue visit http://www.savethepeaks.org The Save the Peaks movement was formed by the Indigenous Native Peoples of Northern Arizona and throughout Arizona to address the dire need to raise awareness for the protection the sacred San Francisco Peaks. The San Francisco Peaks are sacred to 13 tribes in the southwest including the Dine’ (Navajo), Hopi, Zuni, Havasupai, Hualapai, Apache, Tohono O’Odoham and San Juan Southern Paiute. "The Peaks" as they are commonly referred to, are under constant threat of destruction, mutilation, disrespect, and cultural genocide by ski resort corporations and by mining companies whose only view is to exploit the mountain for monetary gain and to provide "recreation". To the 13 tribes that hold The Peaks sacred, they will never be looked at as something to exploit for frivolous gain. Instead, they are cultural sources that the people draw strength from, a place to gather medicines that can cure ills that effect the people, and home of the spirits who take care of the people, animals and the Earth. For the Dine (Navajo) The Peaks are one of the four sacred mountains that mark their ancestral homeland. To the Hopi they are the home of the Katsina spirits who look after the Earth and the Beings who inhabit it. Please join us in our fight to end the further destruction, mutilation and disrespect of Indigenous cultures, religions and our Mother, the Earth.
