Guitarist-fiddler and mandolin player Shadric Smith has been recording and performing his own music for thirty years. His original songs have been re-recorded by Leon Redbone, Dave Moore, Duke Merrick, John Edwards, Odd Legged Jenny, and the Grateful Hillbillies. The music he writes and records is mostly folk and country, with infusions of swing, blues, and jazz. It’s Hard To Hang It Up is an eleven song collection of the latest studio tracks to emerge from his home studio Big Blue Sound. It is mostly cloned Shadrics playing the instruments and singing, but it features Denny Osburn on the title track playing piano, bass, drums, lap steel, clarinet and bari sax. There are several catchy instrumentals and a new country gem called "Mama’s Drinkin’ Again". Will Lopes added a beautiful piano part to the special closing tune "Hold My Hand On The Fourth of July" which was conceived by Matt McCrady and co-written by Shadric.
