简介
LSG's first album from 1997 is still a wonderful album! I liked the collaborations with people such as Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Faith Evans, Coko and others featured in the songs. But they smartly hold back and let Gerald Levert, Keith Sweat and Johnny Gill perform on here. I still love the No.1 hit, My Body, which I still hear to this day! Darrell Allamby created a very smooth ballad for them. Door #1 has this Let's Make a Deal kind of thing in its lyrics as each of the singers sing their verses in three parts of the song. After that is the smooth ballad Round and Round of which Johnny sounds the best on that one. Love Hurts is where Keith Sweat sounds the best and My Side of the Bed and All the Times are where Gerald Levert is at his best. While they went with people such as Puff Daddy, Ron Lawrence, Jermaine Dupri and others, Levert and Sweat produced an average of 3 to 4 songs each on this album. So this is more a group effort too more than just relying on outsiders. But the album has such strong singing from the trio while riding on the challenging urban sounds that dominate the album. I liked their funky numbers of You Got Me, Let a Player Get His Freak On and a remake of Midnight Star's Curious. Their main strength is on the ballads. If you missed out on this album in 1997, you need to get it now in 2005 and 2006! And while their second and last album flopped, this first one still holds up quite well today!
