The Little Brothers draw upon the great lost tradition of African-American stringbands as well as the classic old-time stringbands in this, their first release. The music of The Mississippi Sheiks, Sleepy John Estes, Ishmon Bracey and Blind Joe Taggart are represented alongside that of Burnett and Rutherford and the Scottdale Stringband. The group consists of Kim Basile (fiddle), Mike Hoffmann (mandolin) and Frankie Basile (vocals, guitar, banjo), all playing together and in various combinations. The result is a riotous celebration of music that got left behind on the superhighway of popular culture.... it's not so much music from the distant past as it is music for a different NOW.
