The CD Dreams & Hopes is the collection of my originals (7 songs) and two covers-In Walked Bud from Thelonius Monk and Blues for Sarka from George Mraz. As a composer and performer (acoustic bass and 6str. fretless bass) I am inspired by different musicians and musical eras, yet I add my personal touch to the material. Firstly I feel no matter how complicated a composition is there should be some strong and nice melody. Many of my composition are the picture of my live experience and passion for interesting and creative music. The tune W blues is dedicated to great composer and improvisator Wayne Shorter. The tune Dreams & Hopes has extended form with Brazilian and jazz-rock groves. The first idea of the tune Waiting For Holiday (5/4 with 6/4) was composed when I was waiting in my Prague apartment for my friend to pick me up to go together for holiday. On this CD I also experiment with different harmony and rhythms like Afro –Cuban 6/8, Brazilian, Jazz-swing broken feel, odd meters, Fusion, jazz rock… I sometimes receive feedback that my playing and compositions are pretty lyrical and melodic. I’m happy when listeners can actually sing part of my tunes even though there are some complicated rhythms and harmonies. I’m very grateful to have on my CD one of the top New York jazz musicians: Luis Perdomo on piano, Alex Norris on trumpet and flugelhorn Marcus Strickland on tenor and soprano sax, Jonathan Blake on drums.
