简介
Elaine "Lil'Bit" Shepherd born in Bahrain, began performing at a young age. In 1997 she immigrated to Vancouver BC, Canada with her family, where she continued to develop her musical talents. Blessed with a killer voice and creative ability, Lil'Bit is recognized as "the little girl with the big voice". Her sweet, feathery tone is a stark contrast to her soulful power. In high-school she took up guitar and piano, and began concentrating heavily on her songwriting. While studying Jazz & Contemporary Voice in college, Shepherd began collaborating with musicians who would eventually introduce her to the world of Hip-Hop, R&B, and Reggae. More recently, she has emerged as one of VanCity's brightest young singer/songwriters, and a recording contract is her ultimate goal. Her life inspired debut album "Lady In The Streets" is due to be released in the Spring of 2010. This lyrically conscious, fresh work of art is rooted in Reggae and infused with Soul, Jazz and R&B. It is a true reflection of Shepherd and her musical style. The album includes a duet entitled "Jeapordize" with artist Humble ; 2009 Juno Winner for Best Reggae Recording. It will also include her #1 self titled track "Lady In The Streets", which has been receiving rave reviews. A 20 year radio veteran from Jamaica had this to say about the single: "There were times when I thought that sweet Lovers Rock like this was a thing of the past. After listening to this talented artist, I realized that there is still hope for music of such quality. Her Erika Badu sound alike add flavor to some poignant lyrics telling the brothers, "don't rush it, just take time to get to know me" The lyrics were no doubt skillfully crafted to speak for today's women as she virtuously declares that the price of her worth is not under her skirt. The song has the kind of power to keep you listening for hours. Of course this artist will be around for a very long time." - Tony Gallimor Newstalk 93FM Kingston, Jamaica. The album also features Ras Nikhilesh (Vancouver recording artist, co-writer & co-producer of Lil’Bit’s debut album), Devon aka Mr. Metro, Jahranimo, and a song Shepherd composed for the World Consciousness Unification Project entitled "Judge Not". With good reason, Lil'Bit is one of Canada's most outstanding prospects in the world of music. Look out for this up and coming songstress!
