简介

Doc…Tub…Fun ! Doc Mehl and Washtub Jerry, A Dynamic Duo of Western Entertainment ! When they combine forces, you won't find a more entertaining duo than "Doc & Tub." Doc Mehl brings his creative songwriting to the duo's performances, an original brand of "west-clectic" entertainment. In the words of Rick Huff, as published in "The Western Way" magazine, "There's a unique mind at work here that may be one of a kind in the western music arena… Doc will make you laugh and then suddenly think, then laugh some more and cry. Don't strip your gears!" Poet Doris Daley describes him as "refreshing… original… witty." Jeri Dobrowski comments about Doc's "substantive storylines… olympic-caliber rhymes… a mastery of words… and an ability to transport the listener to another place and time." And songwriter Jon Chandler says, "Listening to Doc Mehl is like having Lyle Lovett in one ear… and Tommy Smothers in the other!" Doc has two CDs of original western music and two CDs of original cowboy poetry to his credit. Doc Mehl's 2013 spoken-word CD "The Great Divide" was named Cowboy Poetry CD of the Year by both the Western Music Association and the Academy of Western Artists. His poems and musical lyrics have been featured on the website CowboyPoetry.com, and his poems have been published in "Rattle" magazine. He was a first-place silver buckle winner at the National Cowboy Poetry Rodeo in 2009. In addition to his vocal and guitar contributions, Doc has recorded his signature brand of western cello on the albums of numerous other western performing artists. Washtub Jerry is a recognized authority for building and playing the washtub bass. In 1999, he was named “Instrumentalist of the Year” by the Western Music Association, and in 2013 he received the American Cowboy Culture Award for Western Music. When he's not playing with Doc Mehl, Washtub has performed with Patsy Montana, Ramblin’ Jack Elliott, Riders In The Sky, Peter Yarrow, Johnny Gimble, Yakov Smirnoff, and many others. He is a member of the International Society of Bassists, and performed at the Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri for five seasons. Washtub Jerry was a featured musician with the Midland-Odessa Symphony Orchestra, and has participated in musical cultural exchange tours in Russia, Germany, and Ireland. Washtub has published two books, one about his four decades of playing the washtub bass, and the other an instruction book on rhythm ukulele. (And yes, it's true, Washtub Jerry can play the ukulele and the washtub bass at the same time!) More information and video / audio samples of Doc & Tub in concert can be found at www.DocTubFun.com.
