Minister Christopher Tate "Christopher") was raised in Denver, Colorado and began his phenomenal music career at the tender age of 12, directing a local church choir of 15. His diligence and persistence to advance paid off as he quickly became known around town as "The Powerman", referring to his ability to "bring down the house" every time he sang. Since that time, his many gifts and talents as a director, writer and soloist has enabled him to expand his skills throughout the entertainment industry with such television appearances as The Arsenio Hall Show, The Dennis Miller Show, Family Matters, Martin, AMEN & MADD TV to name a few. His performances at Inaugural Events for President Bill Clinton and as a special feature on CBS News "60 Minutes" gave him even more nation-wide acclaim as a solo artist. Since then, he has worked closely with numerous other artists throughout the industry including his close friend and Mentor, the late Bishop Walter Hawkins, Daryl Coley, DeLeon Richards, the late Thomas Whitfield, Andrae Crouch, Shirley Caesar, Kurt Carr, Vernon Chapel & Beverly Crawford. His first ever "live recording" debut was as a featured soloist on the late Rev. James Cleveland's Gospel Music Workshop of America' Salt Lake City album with his powerfully anointed lead on "Things Will Work Out". Since then, he has recorded 5 solo CDs, including a live recording which was done at the Eastern Correctional Facility in Eastern Shore, Maryland. For over 19 years, his prison ministry has been his passion. Starting as a one on one mentor at the Fred C. Nelles Youth Authority in Whittier, CA, the Lord blessed him tremendously to expand his prison ministry into 48 prisons nationwide, singing, preaching and counseling thousands of men and women within the walls, making him one of the most sought after men EVER in the prison ministry circuit. Even with all that the Lord has entrusted him to do, he is a fulltime single father of 2 children & 1 adult son (Kirklyn, Christyl and Christopher) and prides himself on making sure that his kids are ALWAYS #1 in his life. Since August, 2007, he has served as the President of Black Men Raising Girls Alone (BMRGA), a support group of over 200 African American single fathers throughout the east coast. It was in January, 2012 that the Lord blessed him to successfully have surgery on his vocal chords to remove 2 polyps, resulting in complete silence for the next 3 weeks, then returning to his regimen of talking, singing and preaching, in moderation. Today, as he puts it, though he is not at 100% as yet, he is excited to be feeling better and stronger than ever before! We celebrate & rejoice because he is truly blessed, called, anointed and gifted by God
