简介
Believe In You is the debut album by acclaimed Australian singer, songwriter and guitarist, James Macdonald. James writes, plays and sings in the great pop tradition of Brian Wilson, Todd Rundgren, Matthew Sweet and Crowded House. However, his talents ensure he has his own identity. James' follow up album, Elevator Music For Unrequited Lovers, is also available and a brand new CD, Naked Soul, will be released on Laughing Outlaw Records in early 2004. PRESS: "There is the unmistakable stamp of Neil Finn across this album and a strong affection for Todd Rundgren (his Couldn't I Just Tell You is covered) and the American west coast sound . . .you may have to search this out, but it's worth it." - Sydney Morning Herald "Devastatingly melodic and richly harmonic it beguiles often with unforced, well-sung tunes of near perfect pop sensibility, echoing the likes of Crowded House, Matthew Sweet, Elliot Smith, Nilsson, and, as is being touted by the label, Brian Wilson, mid-period Beatles and Todd Rundgren." - Glenn A. Baker, Financial Review "Anyone who admires the pop tradition of The Byrds and Pet Sounds' era Beach Boys will relish this debut . . .Records like this aren't released every day of the week. You'd be lucky to find half a dozen debut albums as good as this all year." - Time Off Magazine "Believe In You is an absolutely sublime recording by a virtual unknown. Like Matthew Sweet's 'Girlfriend' album, this is an emotionally charged album filling the gap that Crowded House left in their break wake, using Beatles circa Rubber Soul modus operandi, with a dose of The Monkees on lap steel, to create a breathtaking opus. . . an incredible album by a young man who should be a star." - Drum Media "This is drop-dead gorgeous at times, a serious temptation to bug off work, shuck the office clothes and just kick back with the shades down. Macdonald has what the deportment classes call a 'winning way': with a melody, with a voice, with a song sung blue." - Australian Financial Review
