Belgian guitarist Rene Thomas was one of the leading lights of the Parisian hardbop scene in the 50s,and this is some of his greatest work from the time! The CD features 16 tracks and the work featuresThomas' guitar in the company of some of a lively quintet featuring either Andre Ross or Serge Monville on tenor sax, and either Rene Urtreger or Roland Ronchaud on piano. The work cooks in a way that some of Thomas' other records don't always do,with a straight tight hardbop feeling that's lean and clean throughout.
