简介
Bruce Mishkit, author of Sax/Flute Lessons with the Greats, published by Warner Bros. Publications, is a highly educated and experienced musician. He graduated from California State University in Hayward with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Performance and majored in Classical Flute. Continuing his education, Bruce has studied privately with flutists Lloyd Gowen and David Subke, jazz saxophonists Joe Henderson and Hal Stein and pianist Don Hass. Bruce has been playing in the Bay Area since 1974. After a few years of "Top 40" gigs and rehearsal bands, (Full Faith, and Credit and the Mike Vax Big Band) he joined Daybreak ltd., a progressive jazz-fusion group. Bruce established Deva Records, and along with Mel Martin, produced and released Daybreak ltd.'s first album. In review of that album, Gordon Raddue of the Independent & Gazette had this to say, "Mishkit's commitment to the melodic line is admirable -- obviously a fine technician, he is equally effective as a soloist and as part of the ensemble." John Linder of the Las Vegas Jazz Society said, "He is an impressive soloist, and I particularly like the bite that he gets on his alto." And in his liner notes, Philip Elwood of the San Francisco Examiner wrote, "Outstanding here is the work of Bruce Mishkit -- good stuff." Currently, Bruce devotes his time to writing, recording, performing and teaching. He owns and operates a digital multi-track recording facility and is very involved with digital editing and CD mastering. Bruce recently released his first solo CD entitled Distant Runner. From big band swing to be-bop to rock & roll, Bruce Mishkit is a consummate musician. His energy, talents and drive for perfection make him an invaluable asset to any musical situation.
