简介

Taking rap and hip hop to a broader spectrum by combining elements of live music, singing and rapping. These elements are what make up the artist Kyhil. His first solo release entitled Rap, Rhythm, and Blues personifies the core of his existence and his love for not just hip-hop, but for music itself. This unique brand of music has reached a wide variety of people from teenage hip-hop fans to middle aged adults who would not otherwise listen to rap. This is evident in the mass following that Kyhil has created in the underground music scene in Nashville, Tennessee. Born in Nashville, Kyhil moved to St. Louis at age 6 and begin rapping at age 12. Moving back to Nashville at age 16, he formed the group MDP (Modern Day Players) in 1995 with Goldez and Silky. At the time, MDP embellished the lifestyle of pimping and thug living, which was popular at the time. In that time, the group signed a record deal with Bushwick bill (formally of the Ghetto Boys) and provided the song Hood Rat on the 1998 release "No surrender... No retreat" by Bushwick Bill. Soon after in 1998, the group disbanded due to directional differences. Since 1998, Kyhil has been working feverishly to establish himself as a solo artist in Nashville and the southeast region. Kyhil's musical influence includes Prince as well as his father's gospel band in which he played the drums. Kyhil is at his best and most comfortable when free styling, which is one of his favorite recording techniques. When asked about his philosophy on his music, Kyhil simply puts it as Hip hop funk - music for the soul.
