WASHINGTON DC, Nov. 11, 2016 -- Washington D.C. native and recent A3C Hip Hop Festival’s “The Future Is Female” performer, Indira Imani, has released her highly anticipated EP, The Switch Up!, today at 11:11am. "The songs on this project were just statement pieces to trigger my confidence in my art, talent, and my strength" the 23-year-old singer-songwriter explains. "I hope the listeners find something that speaks to them, to help them move forward to their higher calling." Inspired by some of the greatest female vocalists of all time: Whitney Houston, Erykah Badu, Lianne La Havas, Solange, and SZA, Indira Imani describes her own musical style as "funky vibes with influences of Go-Go, Hip Hop, and Soul music." The blossoming, young talent combines good music with good vibes in her lead single "Somewhere" where she brings to life the story of a long distance love affair. "While the music is soulful," states Indira, "I'm focusing on my perspective of how I see myself as a woman. My music speaks to me first.” Here's a live acoustic version of the single: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQI9kB_MNHc Produced mostly by Munir Zakee, and mastered by Peter Eddins, Indira Imani says the project "is a playlist of my different sounds. There are a few remixes of my originals from my first EP Switch. There’s also a few new songs." The Switch Up! Is available now on SoundCloud and will soon be released on all streaming platforms.
