The album is the result of a recital that happened as part Edmonton Recital Society season 2014/15. The performers were Lidia Khaner, oboe and Janet Scott Hoyt, piano. The pieces were carefully chosen around John McPherson’s Piece, which was commissioned for this particular event and these performers. Violet Archer studied composition with Paul Hindemith, and John McPherson studied with one of Violet Archer’s most successful students, composer Malcolm Forsyth. The Archer, Hindemith and McPherson works are bracketed by Schumann’s gorgeous melodies. Lidia Khaner was a member of Sinfonia Varsovia orchestra in Warsaw before she became a principal oboe in Edmonton Symphony in 1996. A highly sought-after collaborative pianist, Ms. Scott Hoyt has performed across Canada, the United States and in Europe with internationally renowned artists. This is a fourth album of Lidia Khaner and Janet Scott Hoyt.
