Music Review: For the nonpilot, I've often likened airplanes to musical instruments, rather than mere machines. Pilots have a relationship with their aircraft that allows it to become an extension of themselves, much like music is an extension of the performer. The isn't nearly enough aviation poetry and music being written, so we were pleased to come acreoss a CD of songs "The sound of Wings" written and recorded by Susan Graham White. The CD containes four new-age style works, three vocal ballads sung by White, who also accompanies herself on piano along with backup artists, and an instrumental, easy-listening interlude. White's polished alto tones carry her compositions well; her themes are the joy and freedom of flight, with the poignant title piece a remembrance of Amelia Earhart's life.
