The „Modern Soul Band“ was founded in 1968 and is Germany’s oldest and still active soul band. Their single „Niemals“ is the first single featuring their new singer, André Siodla, already known from his performances with Pe Werner and „Die Zöllner“. André’s best stage memories include singing with „Zöllner“ in front of 70,000 people and performing alongside international stars like James Brown and Bryan Adams. Several internationally known musicians have played with MSB, for example Conny Bauer (free jazz trombonist), Uwe Hassbecker („Silly“), Christian Liebig („Karat“) and Gunther Wosylus („Puhdys“). Bandleader and founder, Gerhard „Hugo“ Laartz, was mentioned in 1967 by the American publication „Ludwig Drummer“ which wrote about his first Band „Music Stromers“. The band was prohibited by East German communist leaders and Hugo founded „Modern Soul Band“ one year later.
