Amstel Big Band - Out Of Universe This CD contains originals by Sven Schuster as played by the Amstel Big Band, which is again conducted by Sven Schuster. The songs on this album are very diverse in that they range from funk to latin or boogaloo and contain folk and classical influences. Although none of them are mainstream swing, Sven's compositions refer to the famous big band tradition as exemplified by Count Basie and Duke Ellington in numerous ways. He experiments with popular music in a jazzy way as all important jazz artists did. The arrangements are exciting in their colors and surprising transitions, but they are never too much, never pretentious nor avant garde. They are fun to play and fun to listen to. Serious fun. So enjoy this collection of refreshing new big band work and visit one of the concerts of this adventurous band. Guest soloists on this CD are singer Mathilde Marlon and rapper/beatboxer Andy Ninvalle There are also solo's by the regular band members.
