简介
DiNOLA by David Catching DiNOLA personify all that make their home, New Orleans, one of the greatest cities in the world. Listening to the bewitchingly beautiful voice of Sue Ford, her immensely compelling lyrics, over the roar and rumble of the powerhouse trio of husband Jimmy Ford on dynamically wicked drums, Eddie Payne's solid, stalwart bass, and Eric Laws preeminent guitar and keyboard skills, is likened to a night on the town in New Orleans. They take you on a musical thrill ride through the many fantastic facets of life in the Big Easy. From the sultry swing of the famous back beat, the unbridled abandon of a night in the French Quarter, to the sweaty sweetness of dancing in the hot, humid summer nights. Known for their astonishing live shows, as well as the madness of performing with/as Pink Slip in many years of Mardi Gras parading, DiNOLA has sharpened their already incredible musical deftness to a whole new level. Their first album, "DiNOLA", was recorded at my recording studio, Rancho de la Luna in Joshua Tree, California by Edmund Monsef, (The Cult, Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid,...), and produced by me, David Catching (QOTSA/ EODM/ Pink Slip/ Masters of Reality/ Earthlings?? etc.) I tried to bring some sun and sand to the intoxicating swampy mix of rock n' roll, punk attitude, musical variances and cutting commentary of living in the world today."I Wanna Die in New Orleans" ,a staple of previously mentioned Mardi Gras parade debauchery as well as "Sucka Punch" from the movie "White Rabbit", the vicious crowd pleaser "Vaporizer",and much more. Their newest album, untitled but nearing completion, engineered by Hayden Scott, (Awol Nation, Artic Monkeys) and again produced by me at my studio Rancho de la Luna, should be ready to be released by the time you read this, and features formidable songs, "Up High", " Shut up and Get Out", "Valley of the Wrinkle", " Apocalipstick", "Late Night", a cover of Screamin' Jay Hawkins "Spell on You". DiNOLA by Cree McCree From the swamp to the desert and back again, Crescent City rock ‘n roll favorites come home with a brand new release, and their single – a love song with a death wish. Born in New Orleans, transformed in the desert at the legendary Rancho de la Luna studio and forged in the blazing inferno of Jimmy Descant’s Instant Art, DiNOLA comes full circle on its debut CD, DiNOLA, with the song that started it all: “I Wanna Die in New Orleans.” Written by DiNOLA drummer Jimmy Ford and Queens of the Stone Age/Eagles of Death Metal guitarist Dave Catching during the first incarnation of New Orleans’ notorious Gnarltones, “I Wanna Die In New Orleans” went on to become a parade-route smash for Pink Slip, the first-ever all-female Mardi Gras band fronted by DiNOLA vocalist Sue Ford. So when Jimmy Ford joined forces with guitarist Eric Laws and bassist Eddie Payne, whose musical telepathy dates back to high school, it’s only natural that Sue snarled “gimme that mic!” and started belting out “Die.” From that molten core was born the band DiNOLA, named in homage to its trademark song. Following a furious burst of songwriting, DiNOLA piled into a Cutlass convertible and headed for Rancho de la Luna studio in Joshua Tree, founded by DiNOLA producer Dave Catching. There, amid palm trees canopied by shooting stars, they joined a long line of Rancho recording alumni: Mark Lannegan, Foo Fighters, Kyuss, Arctic Monkey, Victoria Williams, Daniel Lanois and PJ Harvey, to name but a few. “It’s good to leave your regular environment and isolate yourself in the desert with your music” says Sue. Armed with 13 masterfully mixed tracks, the band headed home to a baptism by fire at their first-ever live performance: “Descant vs. DiNOLA,” a no-holds-barred Instant Art assemblage by Jimmy “Rocketman” Descant, sound tracked by DiNOLA , at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. The DiNOLA cover art created that day is now part of the Ogden’s permanent collection. DiNOLA wants to return to Joshua Tree to record their second album, but relocation is not an option. “I love the desert but I still want to die in New Orleans,” says Sue. “Going down that avenue on the float, rockin’ it to a million people!” For more info and upcoming tour dates, contact: jimmyfordclinic@yahoo.com
