This CD entitled “Live in Church” was recorded live during several church services in Toledo, Ohio, the home town of Sacred Steel guitarist Del Ray Grace Sr. Del Ray is an extension of a long line of African American sacred steel players trained in the tradition Church of the Living God. The Church of the Living God was founded in 1903 by Mother Mary Lena Lewis Tate. Sacred Steel music entered the church in the late 1930’s and is what distinguishes the Church of the Living God from all others. This live CD showcases the sacred steel guitar in its natural setting,the African American church. Only in this atmosphere can you appreciate the uniqueness of the music.
