Barely off the ground the EP is an attempt at creating a both thought invoking and emotional experience, through the life perspective of the artist (ILZ). Each song is arranged to deliver real lyrical meaning accompanied with sounds both expected and unexpected. Such as providing a not so uplifting topic, with music that makes you want to move. The single BELLA, serves as an excellent example of such. Each song is meant to reach the listener with a sound that's arranged to be different while accomplishing a familiar feel. The song Somethings Missing, for instance, with its traditional RnB stylings is offset by sounds that highlight a more modern groove undertone. The purpose behind the EP is to establish a connection between the artistic expression of ILZ with a sound that can reach a multitude of listeners and viewers. It is said an artist is only as relevant as the world sees their art. Barely off the ground EP is complex in its simplicity in its effort to answer the question of whether or not ILZ's art can bring relevance to his name.
