Ok, so people are probably wondering why I chose such a cheesy name for my song. And no, this isn't a homage to the old metal band from the 80s. This song is actually about the story of the Frog and the Scorpion. If you're not familiar with the Frog and the Scorpion then I'll haply oblige: One day the Scorpion came upon a body of water that he could not pass because he could not swim. Seeing his dilemma the scorpion saw a frog over yonder and asked that the frog take him across the water. The frog not entirely trusting the scorpion said "I can't take you across the water. If I take you across, you'll string me and I'll die." The scorpion noted this and replied thoughtfully, "If I sting you then we'll both die because I can't swim." The frog considered this and agreed to take the scorpion across the pond. Halfway across the pond, the scorpion stings the frog. And as the frog is dying he says to the scorpion "Why did you sting me? Now, you're going to die too." And to that the scorpion replied, "I can't help it. It's just my nature." This song is told from the scorpion's point of view. The nature of the scorpion is evil even though he doesn't actually intend to do harm. He can actually see the benefit in doing good but he doesn't posses the ability to do so. I was always intrigued by this type of behaviour pattern in some people that I've met along my life and I thought it would be interesting to write a song about this idea. At first I thought behaviour was more befitting to a fox but the fox is cunning and scheming in motive knowing full well what his actions can do. Whereas the scorpion has no motive. He simply is.
