Punk Rock Meets Monsters, Ghosts, Sideshows, and Sardonic Humor. Scanner was formed by Joe Brady and Junnie Fortney in 1979, and played throughout the Central Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Washington D.C. areas. Scanner’s influences encompass a wide range of styles, including the pioneers of 50s rock and roll, 60s hard rock and surf, and 70s glam and punk. Scanner has been rocking old school punk rock, horror rock, and creepy surf instrumentals since the 1970s. 2013 saw their successful release of “One foot in the grave, and more pissed than ever”. Now, in 2015, the Scanner boys will be taking listeners on a twisted carnival ride, tour de force of many of their influences, including glam, horror, punk, and even dark country with the release of their third album entitled “SPLAT”. The new album has all of the elements Scanner fans have come to expect: blistering guitar work, dynamic percussion, and passionate, raw vocals. The band name "Scanner" came into being in 1980, when Joe read an article in a monster magazine about a new movie coming out called "Scanners" and liked the imagery of heads exploding, and imagined it being the effect of hearing Scanner music!
