Urban Acoustic Rock! Do you think you know what it is? Well, you don't know, until you're not afraid to know. "Not Afraid" is just that. "Not Afraid" of genre, "Not Afraid" of innovation, and "Not Afraid" to stand on its own. So much of today's music industry seeks to put artists in a confined genre box with a neat little bow of explanation; directing your ears and emotions, and therefore expectations. This album goes hard on breaking down the walls of conformity. Urban Acoustic Rock by no means totally identifies every nook and cranny of this musical gumbo. It simply wets the palate with a few of the flavors. There are hints of R&B, rock, hip hop, blues, world, and funk, all with an acoustic root. Basically what you have is music without confinement, beats without boundaries, grooves without gates, and singing that stirs your soul. This highly anticipated third CD from Lee has 16 tracks of delicious delicacies, served up on a platinum platter. Don't get it twisted, there are no appetizers with this banquet. Just one main course after another. Every song is filled with substance. This album is designed for the listener to play in it's entirety. As you listen to it you'll discover a progression of styles, and messages. This gives us an opportunity to share in, and experience the diversity of Lee's influences and inspirations. This CD is very different from "Naked And Underneath The Covers" ©2012 A very strong acoustically based CD, where most of the album was written and performed by Lee. When asked what he's most proud of about "Not Afraid"; Lee said: "I think the most beautiful thing about this Album is the collaboration of my music Fam. Music is the fabric that we wrap our emotions in, to accompany us through this journey. There are a variety of extremely talented artist involved with this particular wardrobe." Joe "Dr. J" Alfaro of the "Super Freaks" and owner of Little Green Studio in Southern California, was a major piece in the production and development of this album. Joe did some of the bass lines, guitar leads, keyboards, and most of the drum tracks. His help with the music and vocal arrangements were crucial. Not to mention Joe engineered the entire project. Mike "Cat Daddy" Brown helped put the FUNK in it. Mike and Lee have been writing music together for many years. Cat Daddy drew on his past experience with "The Ultimate Funk Band" to provide energetic foot stomping beats and bass lines to such tracks as "Butterflies and Dreams Come True". He has always been a key component to Lee's song cultivation processes. Nick "The Prodigy" Williams is a new, young, and freakishly gifted guitarist from Riverside, CA. He gave the smooth and melodic guitar leads on "Dreams Come True and Payback". Amanda "Songbird" Curiel is a staple to Lee's music. She's been a part of all of his albums. Not only does Amanda give us some great vocals on "Dreams Come True", she also shows off her lyric writing ability on "Fragments". There are also a couple other very intriguing vocalist debuting on this album. Laci Edward's soulful resonance can be recognized in the backing vocals of "Not Afraid, J, and Love Vibration". Sohiala an up and coming starlet in her own right, sings sweet angelic melodies in "Heartbreaker" and is featured on "Payback". "I've brought all of these creative minds together, in an effort to manifest the epitome of collaboration; and I believe this is a success" says Lee. "Not Afraid" is a success, for writers, producers, musicians, and lyricist alike. Do yourself a huge favor, and experience this album on a whole in one complete sitting. You'll enjoy the voyage, and very likely will eagerly revisit it, again, again and again!
