简介
Born in 1984 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, in Kansas. Laurence Subelka lived his early childhood in the Oakland area of Topeka Kansas. He was raised by a single mother as his father walked out on the family before he was born. As Subelka got a bit older and drugs and gang violence became more ramped in Topeka, his mother decided to move outside city limits for the remainder of his childhood and all the way through High School. In 1996 three boys also from Topeka moved in next door to Subelka. The boys were a bit older then Subelka and carried themselves with a whole different attitude then all of the other students in school. Subelka felt a sense of belonging with his new friends, after all they made up nearly the entire minority population in their school. Subelka's new friends revitalized his Topeka roots and taught him how to be street savvy. They also introduced him to rap music! Tupac, Eazy E, and Outkast became not just entertainment, but also the Black Male role models that Subelka never had. With his new friends and his newly found love for rap, Mista CP was born. In 1997 Subelka decided he wanted to be a rap artist and began writing lyrics. He had is Mother buy him a Karaoke Machine so he could secretly record his songs onto tapes so he could show off his skills to his friends. One day his mother was going through his things and came across tapes and notepads full of lyrics. She couldn't believe what she was reading. She told her son that she was ok with him wanting to pursue rap music but for a 13 year old boy his lyrical content was unacceptable. She ordered young CP to throw away his raps and if he was going to continue with rapping his content would be age appropriate. Throughout high school CP continued writing lyrics but would only rap for his closest friends and never publicly performed in front of a crowd. He continued recording on his Karaoke Machine just for personal use and for friends. Now a bit older and with a car CP spent most of his free time back in Topeka, getting reacquainted with the city he always thought of as home. Subelka was also a standout athlete in High School and had many offers to play sports at the college level. He eventually chose to play football in college with the hopes of making it to the NFL. College brought CP fully out of his shell. His football skills gained him great popularity and with so many students in the school he found himself meeting with hundreds of aspiring artists who wanted to record tracks with him. This is the next step in the evolution of Mista CP. Taking whats written on paper and recording it to CD. In 2004 Mista CP recorded his first album. MISTA CP 'The Golden Child' EP. The album sold over 500 copies in its first 3 months and was most known for the hit song 'This Thang Baby'. This small EP gained much recognition around his college and his home area of Northeast Kansas. With the success of his EP, CP had artist coming out of the wood works trying to get a feature on on his second solo album which was a 18 track LP titled 'The Underground King' that was released in 2006. in 2007 CP transferred colleges and hooked up with future label mate K. Curtis to release a small EP called THE LIVIN LEGENDZ '1st Print'. Once again the EP was a success and spread around the college like a wild fire. This again made if easy to find new talent to work with and in 2008 CP released his third solo album titled 'The Third III'. In 2010 CP signed to Central Playa Music where he was the feature artist for the Labels first two projects. The first project was a group mixtape titled THE CENTRAL PLAYAS 'Street Credit' (2011) which featured Mista CP along with fellow label mates M.O.S. and K. Curtis. The second project was Mista CP's first official studio album titled 'Still Golden' (2012). The album is a unique blend of witty rhyme schemes and clever story telling. Currently CP is working on the next CENTRAL PLAYAS mixtape titled 'MidWest Movement' (2013) and also his next studio album N.S.N. (2014) MISTA CP - A RAPPER FOR THE PEOPLE
