简介

Karen Sanders started her music education on the piano at the tender age of 5, being taught by her mother who was a concert-pianist. She always knew her entire life that she would be a musician. It was as much a part of her as her red hair. When she was 10, Karen changed course to learn the flute, deeply attracted to that instrument of impeccable beauty and depth. When she turned 18, she walked into a music store to bring her flute in for maintenance. There, she met a guitar player who would forever change her life. He asked Karen if she wanted to "jam." She told him she had never "jammed" before, she only knew how to read. He talked her into trying it, saying "you know a G minor scale don't you?" She answered that of course, she knew a G minor scale. The song was the classic "Summertime." Right there, in the store, in front of everyone, it just came so natural to her and it was the most magical day of her life. The next day, Karen started jamming in clubs, never thinking to ask the key. She just heard the music and knew what to play. After that summer of jamming, Karen went off to college at the University of Pacific in Stockton, California to major in Music Theory and Composition. At the end of that year Karen had written a piece for flute and piano that was selected to be performed in the final composers concert of the year. As a Theory and Comp major, she had to take lessons on multiple other instruments. That is when Karen discovered another close connection to the sax and now she plays both alto and tenor. Then came a number of years living and playing on the road in cover bands, developing her performing and vocal skills. Karen's heart and deepest passion is for songwriting which has led her to a partnership with Paris Clayton to create this music CD. It was the perfect partnership of experience and skills that brought the variety of styles of music on this CD together as a cohesive collection. We hope that you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed creating it.
