简介
“For those immersed in the vastness of darkness, we are a glimmer of light- this is Positive Energy…” Prophecy, aka Derrick Dolphin, has many titles- youth development specialist, advocate, executive producer, poet, and Emcee; no matter what role he is in, his priority is to promote positive youth development. Through his work, and now his music, Prophecy’s debut album Positive Energy, with his lyrical partner in rhyme –DUB Colossus (Errill Nelson), speaks creativity, soul and positivity to young people on a global platform. The duo is a long established New York City performance group, previously signed to an RCA Records subsidiary –Grovetown Records, the pair garnered rave reviews throughout the city for the last decade as front men for the eclectic live hip-hop collective “Primordial Source.” In 2000, Prophecy relocated to the Nation’s Capitol where he began working with a youth advocacy firm. There he assisted in the establishment of Alive and Free Records (AFR), a small independent label focused on the creation of urban music that promotes life, freedom and future economic opportunity. AFR also aimed to combat music that promoted violence, the misogyny of women and drug dealing. Most recently Prophecy formed Dolphinity, LLC which is a company focused on exploring hip-hop culture’s impact on young people’s development. In a recent interview with a local news channel Prophecy expressed, “…the power of Hip-Hop is immense; its influence on millions of young people is direct and evident!” Prophecy fuses his expertise in education, life skills instruction, and employment training with beats and music to reach young people who are impacted by violence, conflict, and greed. DUB Colossus uses his real life experiences and unwavering dynamism to covey rhymes that are fiery and thought provoking. Both Prophecy and DUB Colossus bring messages of optimism, peace, and respect to the masses in a time where Hip-Hop has lost it’s direction and substance. Let the music speak for itself; with fresh cuts like “Who da Heck R U?,” “Makin It,” and “Pear Tree,” Prophecy and DUB Colossus bring together hip-hop, jazz, funk, reggae, and soul to create a compelling and smooth soundtrack for a range of listeners young and mature.
